Last time the post your own updates page cancelled itself as the new year came in. We will see if this one does better. Updates from all regions and general comments go to the same page. This makes it easier to read and easier for me to fix if it goes wrong. Click to post your own updates or read others
My Updates below
The Boatyard has completed their dock - and a massive and
excellent dock it is too, and by far the easiest place to get ashore -
however, until they build a "small boat" part it does take a
little agility, pulling yourself up on one of the tyre fenders.
e-mail is not available at the Boatyard, but there is another place a hundred yards down the road and several more in town. Page 195 - Bridgetown sketch chart -The tie up dock for customs is the dock to the right of the text" Yacht Berth for customs" (the arrow is missing) I got the following correction from the Barbados Yacht Club.
1 Sean
DeFreitas and Shane Atwell are not members of the Barbados Yacht Club
2 The
Barbados Yacht Club is also a co-sponsor of the Mount Gay Regatta and we offer
complimentary visiting membership to all participants in the regatta,
and their families, for the duration of the regatta
3 The
BYC:
-
allows visiting yachtsmen to collect water in Jeri cans free of charge
-
will hold mail, and
- can
send or receive e-mail on behalf of visiting yachtsmen - e-mail address byc@sunbeach.net
- web site - www.barbadosyachtclub.com
4 We
have a beach party every Friday night and snacks as well as dinner are
available at very reasonable prices. On the last Friday of every month
we also have a band or DJ. Happy hour is 1730-1830
5 We
have recently revised and expanded our a la carte menu at the beach
restaurant, and also serve a buffet in the Clubhouse Mon-Fri, as well as
on Sunday's on the beach
6
afternoon tea is also available on the beach every day
7 our
rum punches are the best in the island!
I don't mean to sound
like an advertising agent for the Club but we love to see visiting
yachtsmen and there is always someone around who will give information
or lend a helping hand if someone needs assistance.
Best

Commodore Page 190 - Sailing to Barbados from Tobago. Unless the wind is unusually southerly it pays to follow the coast of Barbados to the east before heading north. It sometimes pays to tack about 5 miles east from Tobago before tacking north. The current is more northerly by Tobago than it will be later. The strength of the northeast current can be 2-3 knots. This give you a good northerly kick but can make the tack back hard. If you don't don't have a good engine and don't make Barbados in one tack, it is probably best to sail right past Barbados before tacking back in. Click here for an update Bridgetown map that replaces page 197 Be Patient! In order to make the quality reasonable this image is 150 DPI. This means if you just go to print it may come out to big to fit on the page. If your printer gives you the options print it to 5 inches wide for fitting in the guide. If you have no printer options, you can save it somewhere on the hard drive - double click on it and provided you are using Windows XP it will come up as an image in printer and fax viewer. Follow the print options and eventually you get to a bit where you get a print preview and can make sure it fits on one page From Wipers: Barbados: Two things, any boat clearing in to Barbados must now check with the Port office also. They are located to the west side of the harbor up stairs. There is no cost at that point, only when you leave. Also the break water for Hilton was moved by father sea and all the sand has moved making Needhams Point very shallow. Its only sand but you can go from 18 ft to 3 ft in a sec. Peter (Wipers) Hoad
