Local
News Sources
Information
about the Caribbean is very hard to find in the
international news. There is a tendency for most of the media
to think of the Caribbean as a single entity somewhere
"out there". It is not unusual to hear such news
items as "Hurricane Hilary devastated the Caribbean,
causing hundreds of deaths and millions of dollars worth of
damage". If you think of the same sentence but replace
the Caribbean with the USA, it immediately becomes ridiculous.
It is no less absurd for the Caribbean, which spans many
hundreds of miles and includes a large number of sovereign
nations. Only bad news seems to reach the international press
and whether it is a natural disaster or some grisly murder, it
is usually much more local than the international media
portray. The antidote to this poor level of journalism is to
read the story from a Caribbean perspective.

Predicting
Caribbean Holidays
n
r future years)
Most island
holidays that vary are the Christian ones. The French holiday
predictor does these well into the future, and things like
Easter and Corpus Christie are shared by many countries.
