An
open comments page has proved unpractical (see below)
So
please email your updates to me at: Sailorsguide@hotmail.com
(click on the address to activate email). If you
prefer you can contact me at facebook
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1427464224
I think you can usually send message before I
friend you or whatever it is called. I am very slack
about facebook, but they normally email me new messages.
IMPORTANT:
In the subject line write: update, then the port
or area you are writing about.
This
way I will know the email you are sending is not junk
mail, and that you intend it for posting on the relevant
Updates page.
End
you message with your name, boat name, nickname or
whatever you would like to be posted. If you
don't want your name to be posted say so.
I
will post your email on the Your Comments page,
usually daily in the summer, and as often as possible
(but generally more than once a week) when I am
cruising.
You
email address and any other information in the address
bar will be deleted when I post your contribution - it
will not be posted or used for any other purpose.
I
don't normally post complaints against businesses, but I
do take note of them when writing the next edition. I do
also often post tem to the business concerned so they
can see what they are doing wrong.
Thank
you for your input, Chris
Why
I am changing the format of Your comments Page.
I
love the idea of an open active comments page, and for a
couple of years I have tried to this. Unfortunately it
has proved unpractical because it constantly gets
filled with junk. This junk comes in the form of pages
of unwanted links. (I have never received an unwanted
post from a cruiser) At first I thought this was some
web masters trying to increase their profile. But I
contacted some of the sites involved, and also looked at
the variety of sites and came to the conclusion that is
was far more bizarre. A few people seem to have been
infected with a meme that makes them want to replicate
sites for no other reason than replication.
Strangely enough I had just become interested in the
theory of memetics
and if anything fits, this does! On the other hand they
may just get off by making other people close open web
pages down. In which case I have to grant them success.
Who know or cares? I presume they have a computer
programmed to help them, like a minor irritant computer
virus - if not they were prepared to spend many hours at
this task. I am not willing to spend similar time
deleting their posts.
So
to stop this site being a completely open replicating
machine I have to use the email route (above) which will
help me sort out the junk from the messages and also
keep the junk off the comment page. (some of you may
have seen some of it between my cleaning sessions)
Thank
you for your input, and I apologize for not being able
to have a completely open page. Chris
